• G2000 talks: weekly research progress talk, by graduate students, postdocs, faculty, two talks/hour, Cody Hall

Informal Specialized Interest Meetings:

• CITA lunch talk: spontaneous informal talk by visitors or locals, CITA lounge.
• Hydro discussion: weekly discussions on hydrodynamics-related astro-ph papers, Room MP1308 (or Gas Dynamics)
• astro-ph 1/2 hour: M/W/F half hour discussion of new & interesting astro-ph papers, CITA lounge.
• OrderOfMagnitude: weekly session working on an order-of-magnitude problem, organized by gradaute students
• Journal Club: weekly discussions of astro literature, organized by graduate students
• Education discussion: bi-weekly discussion related to astronomical education, Astro lounge.
  
• Stellar discussion: bi-weekly talks on stellar astrophysics, Astro lounge.
  
• star/planet group: weekly group meeting of people working on star formation/planets, CITA lounge or astro lounge.

Social Events:

• astro coffee: daily morning coffee to start off the working day, astro lounge
• astro tea: weekly tea/cookie party to contribute to the departmental cookie fund, astro lounge
  
• colloq. refreshment: delicious cookies and fresh fruits for after the colloquium, bug the speaker! astro lounge
• CITA dessert: weekly Friday dessert, CITA lounge, everyone welcome (with or w/o a stomach for even more food)
• colloq. dinner: gradute students take out the colloq. speaker for a weekly, department-subsidized dinner

• public talks: first Thursday every month, free tour of rooftop telescopes and a public talk,.
